Why do this website?

Because I thought it would be fun. I like playing flute and I also like goofing off online. On a slightly deeper level, I thought it would be interesting to document some of the things I’ve learned as both teacher and student.

I’m hoping that visitors to this site will find useful pieces of information, and they’ll also take the time to leave comments regarding their own experiences.

What this site doesn’t do:

There is no replacement for a good teacher. Music is an aural art form that must be passed on to the next generations in person. We’re lucky to live in an age where information is so abundant and easily accessible, but that information only augments what you can learn by working with a good teacher.
